Speaking about ones work is always a challenge, especially to a general audience and <interact> 2018 is a great opportunity to practice this important skill.
For all participants giving a talk at <interact> 2018, we offer a one-day group workshop to actively work on their presentation skills. It will take place one week before the conference.
The speakers will:

learn techniques for creating an engaging talk

polish and practice their own presentations

get direct feedback from the coach and the peers

learn skills that can be applied to other presentations in the future

While the participation is not mandatory, it offers a great opportunity to improve your presentation skills for <interact> and for future presentations.

Learn to build a one-minute version of your talk that highlights the main points of your story Create a talk structure that maximizes your presentation's impact
10:30 – 10:45 Coffee Break
10:45 – 12:15 Effective Time and Audience Management Skills
Learn how to plan a presentation so it fits the time limits and audience type for a given event
Tips for managing difficult questions and difficult audience members
Apply these skills to your own talk and get feedback from the group
12:15 – 12:30 Review Round-Table Discussion
12:30 – 13:30 Lunch
13:30 – 15:00 Building Attractive Slides
Get tips for making nice and meaningful slides that augment the presentation
Apply it to your own slides, share and discuss your slides with the group
15:00 – 15:15 Coffee Break
15:15 – 17:15 Putting it All Together: Applying it to your talk
Apply the newly learned skills to your own presentation
Practice a 10-minute version of your research talk for the conference
